Let's take a look at the combustion characteristics of wires and cables
The combustion characteristics of wires and cables described in this article are applicable to flame-retardant and fire-resistant wires and cables or optical cables containing halogen, halogen-free, low smoke, and low toxicity. First, let's take a look at the terms and definitions of flame retardant, fire-resistant, halogen-free, low smoke, and low toxicity.
1. Flame retardant: Flame retardant means that the sample tested under specified conditions is burned, and after the fire source is removed, the flame spreads on the sample only within a limited range, and has the characteristics of preventing or delaying the occurrence or spread of flames.
2. Fire resistance: Fire resistance refers to the characteristic that the sample can continue to operate under specified conditions when burned under specified fire source and time.
3. Halogen-free: Halogen-free refers to the characteristic that the halogen (fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine) content of the sample released during combustion is less than or equal to 1.0 mg/g.
4. Low smoke: Low smoke refers to the characteristic that the smoke concentration generated during combustion will not reduce visibility (light transmittance) to the point of affecting escape.
5. Low toxicity: Low toxicity refers to the characteristic that the toxic effect and concentration of toxic smoke generated during combustion will not cause death of living organisms within 30 minutes.
In our daily life, the common combustion characteristic codes are as follows: ZA Flame Retardant Class A, ZB Flame Retardant Class B, ZC Flame Retardant Class C, and ZD Flame Retardant Class D. Common flame retardant series combustion characteristic code combinations include WDZA halogen-free low smoke flame retardant class A, WDZB halogen-free low smoke flame retardant class B, and WDZC halogen-free low smoke flame retardant class C. The fire-resistant series combustion characteristic code combinations are as follows: WDZAN halogen-free low smoke flame retardant class A, WDZBN halogen-free low smoke flame retardant class B, and WDZCN halogen-free low smoke flame retardant class C. When there are multiple combustion characteristic requirements, the codes are arranged in the order of halogen-free, low smoke, low toxicity, flame retardant and fire resistant.
The model of flame retardant and fire resistant wires and cables consists of two parts: the combustion characteristic code and the relevant wire and cable model. Flame retardant and fire resistant wires and cables are represented by combustion characteristic code, product model, specification, this standard number and product standard number. For example, a product: copper core, cross-linked polyethylene insulated polyvinyl chloride sheathed power cable, flame retardant class B, rated voltage 0.6/1kV, using the above expression method can be expressed as: ZB-YJV-0.6/1KV
