Wire aging refers to the insulation layer and protective layer of the wires being exposed to light and temperature changes for a long time, and losing their insulation and protection functions under the influence of factors such as cold and hot shocks, corrosive gases, and electrical loads.
After the wires are aged, the insulation performance decreases, and short circuits are prone to occur, especially in dry, cold and humid weather. Although the appearance of the wires is intact, the insulation performance has been reduced. When moisture penetrates into the metal conductor, a short circuit occurs and a fire occurs.
So how to identify the phenomenon of circuit aging? First, you can infer by checking the purchase date, and then calculate the time of use. The service life of our general household wires is about 15 years. If you accidentally lose the purchase receipt and cannot check the purchase date, you can check the appearance of the wires or test the insulation of the wires.
There are countless fires caused by aging wires, so what preventive measures can we take? In fact, in addition to aging wires, private wiring, overload use, wire short circuits, and non-compliant installation of line overcurrent protectors can all cause fires. This requires us to take preventive measures in our daily work and life and be careful of hidden fire hazards in the circuit.
